I will continue the trend of posting a discussion question on Sunday afternoon that will lead into some articles during the week on the subject of the Doctrine of God. For discussion, if you had just one question that you could ask God what would you ask him?
Before you post your question think through a couple of items. 1) Has he already given us the answer in Scripture? 2)Is there a particular answer you are hoping for, and what are the implications if God were to answer the question differently than you are expecting? This is just some food for thought.
Anyway – what are your questions?

I think in relation to what you said in the message yesterday – that God did not create us because He was lonely… I would just ask Why He created us – knowing that we would be full of disappointment. He gave us all eternal life if we just simply accept it, yet our generation and many generations past have sold the gift for a life that gave into instant gratification.
I’m grateful that God created us and that He made a plan for our redemption – He knew that we would disappoint Him before we were created, yet He did anyways…

It was very hard for me to come up with the most pressing one and yet you touched on it yesterday. I would ask him to explain the Trinity. There are so many questions that would result from that one, but in trying to explain it to my 7 year old, I find myself fumbling for the right words. Like you said that one will have to wait till we see him, but then when we do, we may not have a need for an answer.

Good questions! The good news on the trinty is that we we truly expereience His triune presence when we are in heaven. That will be cool! The key if for us to trust that what the Bible reveals about God is true.
Why did God create us? I am sure we will gain insight into this one day as well…
For now we know that God does everything to maximize His glory. So, in creating us in his image, he is glorified, and he is also glorified in redeeming for himself a people who worship him.
He did not create us because he is lonely, but we do exist for Him.
“10 For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.” – Hebrews 2:10

This is a great question. One that many of us think about, but I appreciate how you framed the question by looking to Scripture first and think about what answer we are looking to obtain.
I would like to ask God what cry for help is the body of Christ not hearing? It seems we Christians get on to many kicks and might be overlooking those that might be nearest to us crying and even shouting for help that we either don’t hear or choose not to pay attention too. Is it the orphans, elderly, the remote African tribe member, homosexual community, the poor, communist countries, or teens? Maybe it’s our own brother and sisters at church, or our government, or our community, or it even could be our own family members that live under our roof that so often get the scraps of our time and love. Being examples of Christ or sharing scripture, prayers, conversations, and more.
How can we as the body give out a sweet aroma? Everyone everywhere can know our hearts and we Christians listen with our hearts to the cry’s that others can not hear.
The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done. Genesis 8:21

Dave;
Good question….maybe his answer would simply be, “Yes.”
